Euro 2024 Poland Expecting Lewandowski To Be Fit For Austria Match

EURO 2024: Poland expecting Lewandowski to be fit for Austria match

Poland will be hoping to have star striker Robert Lewandowski fit for their second Group D match against Austria on Thursday.

Poland began their campaign with a 1-0 defeat by the Netherlands, while Austria were hugely impressive in their opening game, beating North Macedonia 3-1.

Lewandowski, who has scored 76 goals in 134 appearances for Poland, missed the Netherlands game with a knee injury but is expected to be back in contention for the match against Austria.

Poland coach Czesław Michniewicz said: "Robert is a very important player for us. He is our captain and our leader. We hope he will be fit for the Austria game.

Austria coach Franco Foda said: "Poland are a very good team. They have some very good players, including Lewandowski. We will need to be at our best to get a result against them.

The match between Poland and Austria will be played at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna on Thursday, June 21.
